From Hangzhou to Hong Kong: a new connection between two cities

On 2nd July, the same day as the Part 1 MRCOG exam took place across the globe simutaneously, a delegation from Hangzhou venue arrived at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, where the MRCOG Hong Kong venue was located in. The delegation was warmly greeted by Dr Wing Cheong Leung, the president of Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (HKCOG).

Dr Xiangrong Xu, the executive director of Hangzhou venue, led the delegation on behalf of both the venue and the Women’s Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and discussed with Dr Leung about their extensive experiences in the successful running of Hong Kong venue in the past two decades. Meanwhile the secretary of Hangzhou venue Dr Feng Yun, who was not only a delegation member but also a candidate of Part 2 MRCOG exam, shared his pioneering efforts to pass the exam as a mainland doctor, his work on guiding the newcomers with his personal experience, as well as his view in the development and prospect of MRCOG exam in China. Prof T Y Leung, the senior vice-president of HKCOG and Dr Sidney K C Au Yeung, the honorary secretary of HKCOG also attended the meeting, and they introduced the training system of O&G doctors in Hong Kong.

Both Hong Kong and Hangzhou expressed the will to communicate more frequently and deeply in the future, and opened up possibility of further collaborations. After the meeting, Dr Xu was given a tour to the Part 1 MRCOG exam site in the same building. This meaningful visit concluded with all the attendees taking a photo together. Undoubtedly an entirely new connection was bound to emerge between these two famous China cities.
