The Part 2 MRCOG consists of a written examination. Candidates must pass the Part 2 MRCOG before taking Part 3 MRCOG.
There are two written papers. Each paper counts for the same amount of marks (i.e. paper 1 counts for 50% of the mark, and paper 2 also counts for 50% of the mark). Each paper consists of two question formats:
Single best answer questions (SBAs) – worth 40% of the total mark
Extended matching questions (EMQs) – worth 60% of the total mark
Before you can apply for the Part 2 MRCOG, you’ll need to apply to have your training assessed(see below). In order to do so, you will need to register with the RCOG website so a form can be sent to you.
Once your training has been assessed and approved, you can apply for the Part 2 MRCOG online. Application is only open for short periods of time: please visit the main Part 2 MRCOG page for information about when you can apply. Any requests for special arrangements during the examination must be submitted before the closing date for applications.
The College offers a range of resources that will help you prepare for the Part 2 MRCOG.

The Green-top Guidelines are free on our website or you can buy the RCOG Guidelines app for iOS or Android.
Courses
For details of Part 2 MRCOG revision courses, please search the RCOG courses and events listings.

It guides candidates through key themes that provide an insight into clinical practice in the UK to improve their chance of success.
